App Slope: Habit Tapering
Contact hello@getslope.app

Slope is designed to help people reduce habits gradually and privately. This Privacy Policy explains what information Slope collects, what stays on your device, how analytics work, and the choices you have.

Your private habit details should stay private.

1. Summary

  • Slope does not require an account.
  • Slope does not require your name, email address, phone number, or password.
  • Slope does not sell your data.
  • Slope does not use advertising trackers.
  • Slope does not collect your custom habit display name.
  • Slope does not collect your notes, exact check-ins, exact detour history, or exact schedule.

Most of your Slope data is stored locally on your device.

If analytics are enabled, Slope may collect limited, anonymous usage and progress information to understand how the app is being used and how to improve it. This may include the broad category of slope you choose, such as nicotine, alcohol, pornography, gambling, social media, or another category, but not the private display name you enter for that slope.

2. Information Stored On Your Device

The following information is stored locally on your device and is not sent to Slope's servers:

  • The custom display name you choose for your slope
  • Your exact taper schedule
  • Your exact target date
  • Your exact check-ins
  • Your exact detours
  • Your slope history
  • Your notification schedule
  • Your app settings
  • Any local progress data needed to run the app

This information is used to provide the core Slope experience, including your taper plan, reminders, progress visualization, detour handling, and daily or intraday check-ins.

3. Information Slope May Collect

If analytics are enabled, Slope may collect limited anonymous usage data to help improve the app.

App Usage Events

Examples include:

  • App opened
  • Onboarding started
  • Onboarding completed
  • Slope created
  • Dashboard viewed
  • Settings opened
  • Trail map viewed
  • Notification permission granted or denied
  • Paywall viewed
  • Purchase completed
  • Ride It Out started
  • Ride It Out completed

Slope Setup Information

Slope may collect general, non-identifying setup information, including:

  • Broad slope category
  • Daily or intraday mode
  • Starting ratio bucket
  • Target timeline bucket
  • Detour mode selected
  • Notification enabled or disabled
  • Whether the trail map was edited
  • App version

For example, Slope may collect that a user created an intraday slope in the "nicotine" category with a 2h:1h starting ratio.

Slope does not collect the custom display name you choose for the slope.

Progress and Adherence Summaries

Slope may collect summarized progress information, such as:

  • Day 3, day 7, day 14, or day 30 activity summaries
  • Phase completion
  • Slope completion
  • Adherence buckets, such as 70-90%
  • Detour count buckets, such as 1, 2-3, or 4-7
  • Whether Ride It Out was used before a detour was logged

These summaries are intentionally generalized. Slope does not collect exact check-in dates, exact detour timestamps, exact usage history, or private notes.

4. Slope Category

Slope may collect the broad category of slope you select.

Examples may include:

  • Pornography
  • Nicotine
  • Alcohol
  • Cannabis
  • Gambling
  • Social media
  • Gaming
  • Caffeine
  • Food or snacking
  • Shopping or spending
  • Other
  • Prefer not to say

This category helps Slope understand which types of plans and features are most useful for different behaviors.

Slope does not collect the private display name you type for your slope.

For example, if you select "pornography" as the category but name your slope something personal on your device, Slope may collect the category "pornography," but not your custom name.

5. Anonymous Identifiers

Slope may generate random identifiers to understand app usage and retention without requiring an account.

These may include:

  • An anonymous install ID
  • An anonymous slope ID

These identifiers are randomly generated and are not connected to your name, email address, Apple ID, advertising ID, or other personal account.

You may reset or disable analytics in the app settings where available.

7. Purchases

Slope may offer paid features through Apple's App Store and in-app purchase system.

Purchases are processed by Apple. Slope does not receive your credit card number, debit card number, bank information, or Apple ID password.

Apple may provide Slope with limited purchase-related information, such as whether a purchase was completed, restored, refunded, or expired, so the app can unlock paid features.

Apple's own privacy policy applies to payment processing through the App Store.

8. Notifications

Slope may use local notifications to remind you about your plan, check-ins, or intraday transitions.

Local notifications are scheduled on your device. Your exact notification schedule does not need to be sent to Slope's servers.

You can enable, disable, or change notification permissions through iOS settings.

9. Analytics

Slope may use analytics to understand whether the app is useful, where users get stuck, and which features improve adherence.

Analytics are designed to be limited, anonymous, and privacy-preserving.

  • Which modes are most useful?
  • Which slope categories show stronger adherence?
  • Do notifications improve consistency?

  • Which premium features are most useful?

Slope does not use analytics for advertising, cross-app tracking, or selling user data.

10. Third-Party Services

Slope may use limited third-party services for app functionality, analytics, crash reporting, payments, or infrastructure.

These services may process technical information needed to provide their services, such as device type, app version, crash logs, or anonymous usage events.

Slope does not allow third-party services to collect your custom slope display name, private notes, exact check-ins, exact detours, or exact taper schedule.

If third-party analytics or crash reporting tools are used, Slope will aim to configure them in a privacy-preserving way.

11. Data Retention

Local app data remains on your device unless you delete it or delete the app.

Anonymous analytics data may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to understand app performance, improve features, prevent abuse, or maintain business records.

Slope may retain aggregated or de-identified analytics that cannot reasonably identify an individual user.

  • Choose what display name to use for your slope
  • Select "Prefer not to say" where available
  • Disable notifications

Slope does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Slope, please contact us so we can address it.

14. Sensitive Habits

Slope may be used for sensitive behaviors, including substance-related habits and behavioral habits.

Slope is designed to avoid collecting unnecessary sensitive details. The app may collect broad slope category information for product improvement, but it does not collect the private display name you assign, exact check-in history, exact detour history, notes, or other detailed personal information about your behavior.

15. Medical Disclaimer

Slope is a self-management tool. It is not medical advice, therapy, diagnosis, or treatment.

If you are dealing with physical dependence, withdrawal risk, substance use disorder, mental health concerns, or any medical condition, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.
